Coral and royal blue were the two colors of the summer.  That's what I read in all my Style magazines at least. :)

I found the perfect piece at Salvation Army to makeover.  It was a little pricey for me, but I loved the shape and the possibilities of the piece.

Usually I show you the before picture first, but today I'm going to show you the finished product.

Here it is!!  Isn't it unique?

I love the open bottom.  It is perfect for books, picture frames, or even a basket to hide the clutter.  The picture does not do the color justice.  The coral color is so bright and lively!

I found the nob at Hobby Lobby for half price.  They have the coolest hardware there.  It's amazing how 2 bucks can make a piece pop!

Ok ok... here are the before and after pictures:

I debated on buying the piece because someone obviously spent a lot of time transforming the piece even before me, but it needed to be toned down.  I personally did not care for the stripes and art deco, but that's just me.

For the "Coral Cutie" I sanded, sanded, and sanded.  I was surprised how long it took me to get the raised lines out of the table.  Next, I sprayed the inside of the bottom.  It took about three coats to cover everything.  That alone took a day.  Then, I started painting.  It took three coats as well because the base was so dark in areas.  The bright pink just kept coming through.  Finally, it was done.  I changed out the hardware and she was complete!

Really, this table was pretty simple to makeover.  My tip for you readers???  When painting a side table like this, always start from the bottom and work your way up!!  Stay tuned for more projects.

Happy thoughts?  :)
